Sun Priestess - posing

trying to draw through a couple of variations..ended up with two ..the gentle step forwrd is very frazetta, but the leg up is a bit odd and yoga, and for some reason i quite like it ..just sketching ideas though...

Skur Warlock

A more finished paint of a fearsome Skur Warlock.

From haven list' the distant toll,
Heralds night's champions ‘pon the knoll.
Thund’rous charge o’ frantic hoof clod sodden earth below,
Cav’lier wind atop o' steed, spurred by excited trumpet blown.
From haven ‘seiged, und'r window ledge, spy jagged silver edge drawn,
Take ‘round your blanket child, pray now for morn'.

Winter Drake

this was a 15 min sketch, trialling some quick blocking and erasing techniques to suggest the mountains, and more grit tests for snow and atmosphere.  It seems like a quick way to thumbnail some ideas for bigger more detailed drawings...

Another Skur Raider...

another raider, 1 hour limit, still experimenting with dirt and snow techniques, to get gritty results fast.  I have had feedback about the speed/ferocity of the horse compared to the rider, and I think if I get time to return to this sketch, I would raise the front legs up a bit and stretch the hind legs, giving it more leaping movement, more mid-gallop motion...

Skur Horsemaster

A dark raider, part of a series of horse warrior sketches I am doing.  All these sketches were kept to an hour limit, and I am experimenting with texture and fast digital effects to add grit.  Some of it works, some of it doesn't, but I can get through a few of these quickly, so I can always come back to it later to enhance or change.

I am historically crap at drawing horses, so this series will hopefully help me work through their strange but important shapes and lines...
